About Us

Hi, my name is Dave Poortvliet, I founded TrendyPet.com with my father, Bob, in the summer of 2002.

I had two rescued greyhounds named Cat and Chase. I remember watching my dogs eat from bowls I had set on the floor and thought it looked uncomfortable for them to bend so far over. I started looking around for a raised feeder, but had a hard time finding one that matched the contemporary interior of my house. I asked my father, Bob Poortvliet, if he could build a raised feeder for Cat and Chase. I knew with his many years experience as a design engineer he could come up with a modern style feeder that would match my modern home.

My father, Bob, came up with a great design for a raised feeder, and I proudly displayed it in my house. I received numerous compliments on the modern style feeder from people who stopped by.

I have been building and maintaining web sites for several years, so of course I thought that if people really liked this feeder we should build a web site and try to sell them online. I had a brief discussion with my Dad about my idea, and shortly there after TrendyPet.com was launched.
