How do I determine the right height for my dog?
Measure from the ground to the top of your dog's shoulder, this is called the wither height. Then subtract 6 inches. This is the correct feeder height for your dog. (For small dogs subtract 4 inches) We do offer suggested feeder heights for your breed, but measuring your dog is always the best method.

How do I determine the right bowl size for my dog?
The best way to determine the correct bowl size is to fill the bowl your pet is using now with water and see which one of our bowl capacities match closest. This list was based on filling our stainless steel bowls with water.

bowl capacity (approximate) diameter depth
1 pint 1 2/3 cups 5 1/4" 1 3/4"
1 quart 3 cups 6 1/2" 2 1/2"
2 quart 6 cups 8 1/4" 2 3/4"
3 quart 9 1/2 cups 9 3/4" 3 1/4"
5 quart 16 cups 11 1/8" 3 5/8"

What are the raised bowls constructed of?
The feeders are made out of a rigid plastic material. The material is found in many kitchen countertops and bathroom cupboards. We selected this material because it does not absorb water, it is easily cleaned, does not stain, has uniform color throughout, and it is easily painted if desired. Here are a few key benefits of the construction material:
  • Rot Resistant
  • Resists Splitting
  • Superior water resistance and weather ability
  • Will not delaminate
  • Insect resistant (including termites)
  • Low thermal conductivity
  • High insulation and sound absorption characteristics
  • Lead, cadmium, barium and zinc free
  • Easily cleaned
  • Uniform Color and Texture
  • Easily Painted

How do I clean the raised feeders?
Use a warm water damp sponge or cloth to wipe down the surface of your Trendy Pet feeder and dry with a clean towel. We do not advise using scouring powders or other abrasive cleaners as they may scratch the surface of the feeder. As an alternative we recommend the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (or a similar product) which we have found to work extremely well on hard to remove spots. Household cleaners such as Windex, Sparkle, 409 and Fantastic can be used but always wipe them off with warm water so that no chemical residue is left behind.

My dog will not eat out of the bowls, what should I do?
Make sure you thoroughly wash the bowls. We clean all our bowls prior to shipping, however dogs are very sensitive to smell. Perhaps there is a smell that your dog is associating with something unpleasant. If your dog still will not approach the bowls after a thorough cleaning, try putting some really yummy treats close to the raised feeder and see if your dog will approach the feeder to take the treats. Next, place the same really yummy treats on the top surface of the raised feeder, but not inside the bowls yet. Finally, place the treats inside the bowl. We found that smearing a little bit of peanut butter inside the bowl also helps. Be patient. Let your dog approach the raised feeder at their own pace, never force your dog to eat out of the feeder. Some dogs will slowly approach the feeder and thoroughly smell it before they feel comfortable eating from the new dish.

Why do some of the raised feeders have a cross bar at the bottom?
The cross bar is added to stabilize the feeder and prevent it from swaying side to side.
